FAQ >> Dedicated Servers Questions

1- Do you allow adult content on your servers?
Yes, we do allow adult content (18+) as long as it's legal. iiPanel may at anytime require the customer to provide legal documentation that is fulfilling the requirments for being reviewed.
2- Do you install the Operating System, applications, and software?
We offer 100% self-managed servers. Before a server is deployed, we install the OS and a Control Panel (if selected). All additional software, firewall, etc. is the responsibility of the customer. On base *nix installs, we do not automatically install MySQL. We do install PHP and Apache on all of our *nix installs, except FreeBSD machines. Also, PHP, Apache and MySQL are built into the Plesk control panel. However, they have to be 'turned on'. PHP, Apache, MySQL, Exim, etc. are also built into the cPanel control panel. If you would like these 'turned on', simply put this request in the Comments field of the online order form.
3- Do you offer management and monitoring services for your servers?
Yes, for an additional fee you can make your server become managed by choosing our 24/7/365 management and monitoring services.
4- What does iiPanel technical support include? Are there charges for additional support?
We offer basic technical support. Basic support includes installation of the Operating System and Control Panel, if you choose one. Our servers are 100% self-managed - in other words, fully managed by you or your server admin. Our Support Department is here to help you in things that deal with the network, power, bandwidth, hardware of the server, reboots and some OS issues. Additional support, costs $42/hr.
However, if you choose our management and monitoring services then you will be offered 24/7/365 support including 24/7/365 monitoring services (Unlimited admin time). Please visit our management and monitoring services page for full details.
5- Does iiPanel have contracts?
iiPanel does not have any type of contract. We simply require a 7 day notice to cancel any server.
6- How long does it take to get my server after I place the order?
All of our servers are installed and setup in 24-84 hours (estimated) from the time that we confirm payment. The majority of our servers are deployed within this time frame, although depending on the configuration of the server.
7- How do I ask for custom partitions?
You can request custom partitions in the Comments field of the online order form. We use what the OS install CD uses for the auto-partitioning, unless it is FreeBSD, for which we have our own setup.
8- Do you setup the DNS? Reverse DNS?
The customer is responsible for setting up the DNS on their server. We can provide the RDNS (Reverse DNS) for you, as we do this for 95% of our customers.
Once the server is deployed, a customer can simply send in a ticket to the Support Department requesting the RDNS be set up.
9- Out of the 8 IPs that come with a server, why are only 5 of them 'usable'? Can I order additional IPs and if so, how much?
We provide you with 8 IPs for each server - 5 are usable, 3 are used to set up your Private VLAN.
We sell IPs in blocks of 8 at $2.50 per IP ($20 per block). To order IPs, you must have a minimum of 80% justification for those additional IPs (required by ARIN). Additional IPs can be ordered after your server is deployed.
10- Does iiPanel allow IRC or P2P applications on the network?
No. All IRC is strictly forbidden on our network. Any host found running either a IRC client or server will face suspension and possible cancellation of services.
11- What is a Private Switch? How much does it cost and how do I get one?
Having servers on a private switch enables you to pool your BW between all servers on that switch. In addition, BW between the servers themselves is not counted towards your monthly BW usage. The cost to put a server on a private switch is $10/month per server on that switch.
When you order a new server that you would like to have placed on a new or existing private switch, simply request it in the Comments field of the order form for that server and we will add the $10 monthly fee onto the invoice for that server to be on the Private Switch and will connect it for you.
12- Do you offer Remote Reboots?
All reboots are done manually by our techs. If you need a reboot, please submit a ticket to the "Server(s) Reboot" department at our support center Support Center including the following details:
* Client ID Number
* IP Address
* Operating System
* Root Password
* Server ID Number
Reboot tickets have a very high priority; estimated time for completion is 5-45 minutes, but they are usually taken care of in less time.
13- Can the main server provider name be removed and replaced by my own company name when my client looks up their IP?
Due to ARIN rules we are unable to change that information shown. We do provide 'RWHOIS' information for all our clients to meet the ARIN guidelines and we will provide 'SWIP' changes to ARIN if a client has /25 (128 continuous IP's) or more. Even then it will still show the main server provider name at the top of the list and the IP's then delegated to you. The ONLY way around this is to purchase your own IP space from ARIN or other local registar.
14- Where is your Data Center?
Savvis IDC in Fort Worth Texas with multiple gigabit uplinks to their international backbone.
15- Which forms of payment do you accept.
We currently accept PayPal, Western Union and Money Order.
16- What is your policy on Bandwidth?
We do not limit your transfer rate for your dedicated server. Your dedicated server will have a 10mbps network connection, or if you have selected to upgrade your port speed to 100Mbps. If you exceed your monthly transfer limit, you will be billed for any excess.
